This rounded evergreen shrub is versatile in its uses. It is most often grown as a shrub or small tree but its evergreen foliage make it a good choice for low hedging too. Euonymus japonicus Himalaya boasts glossy leaves that darken from almost white to dark green as they mature. Insignificant pale green flowers appear in early summer and last for around 3 months.
Also known as Japanese Spindle, Euonymus japonicus Himalaya is easy to care for and doesn’t demand much attention to flourish. It grows in partial shade but a position in full sun brings about the best colouring. Soil should be moist but well-drained or well-drained. Once established, Japanese Spindle is drought tolerant and only needs to be watered during prolonged dry spells. This is a slow-growing shrub that won’t take over the garden.
